Curse of the Volcano

Trailer

About

A 3D platformer meant to be played competitively for up to four players. Made as a group project.

The entirety of the game was made in Unity using C#, with some of the asset having first been modeled in Autodesk 3Ds Max.

The goal of the game is to compete with your fellow players to be the first to reach the top of the volcano without falling into the lava rising up from below.

While the players have to be quick and skillful in their platforming, there is another imortant element to the gameplay: sabotage.
The majority of the objects in the game enable players to set their opponents back, be it through curses that can impede the others to lowering a bridge before another player can cross it.

The shortness of the levels and the speed of the rising lava emphasize the briefness of the gameplay loop, highlighting how it’s meant to be played multiple times in quick succession.
Having multiple levels to choose from and each level containing various paths to the top also allow for more diversity in each playthrough, ensuring the players never get bored.

My role

I had a general role involving both programming and game design, responsible for the coding of various interactable objects and working together on the level layout.
